Looking through the boxes of stuff from my childhood I found numerous floppies of different types. This got me wondering just how many floppies it would take to hold the contents of my iPhone, iPod, laptop or even the NAS-box.

Doing some off my head calculations I realized what the world needed was a Floppy Calculator that would enable people to see just how fast the storage capacities on modern devices has move in the last decades. And thus I created the FloppyCalc..

Using the FloppyCalc you can easily see how many floppies of different types you would need to hold a given amount of data. The range is from 1 MB to 1024 TB - and I hope that is enough for most of you out there. I also do a little calculation when you press your storage medium to give you some estimates of how much those floppies would weight and how far they would stretch if you laid them side by side.
